Outfit

I don’t know if you noticed, but I skipped one or two of my outfit of the week posts. I had some down days and I was travelling to Germany and had some different stops on the way. When I reached my final destination (home) I got sick on the second day: bummer! Nevertheless, I managed to accumulate seven outfits for you guys! The photography is not really my finest work, but it’s a great example of casual feel-good wear while combining the same key pieces over and over again.

I still feel a little bit ill, but I hope to gather some more outfit pictures in the next couple of days, stay tuned!

Ich weiß nicht, ob es euch aufgefallen ist: Es gab schon länger keinen „Outfit of the Week“-Post mehr – beziehungsweise war es um mich allgemein recht still. Mich hat ein fieser viraler Infekt erwischt, mitten auf einer Geschäftsreise und so lag ich teilweise in Deutschland krank im Bett und dann auch schließlich hier in London. Trotzdem ist es mir gelungen sieben Outfits für euch zusammenzukratzen und ich hoffe, sie gefallen euch. Ich habe die gleichen Lieblingsteile immer und immer wieder anders kombiniert und ich denke, da ich eine Menge Inspiration für „Capsule Wardrobe-ing“ (ist das ein Wort?) und „Re-wearing“ dabei. Getting dressed in the morning is self-care – that’s a new realisation of mine after almost completing the first month of 12 in this project. I also made peace with the idea, that having some „comfort outfits“ is a great thing, and it’s totally fine (AND NORMAL) to wear the same clothes two days in a row, even if you are a blogger. I think it spreads a good message as well: there is no rush when it comes to fashion and „feel-good-outfits“. Why oh why should you even pick some new or less comfortable clothes if your sweater from the last day is still fine & not full of tomato sauce stains?

You can almost hide in your „comfort zone outfit“ and pull it out whenever you need it: a date, a job interview or just a particularly bad day. It will brighten your mood, give you a sense of calm. I had one of these outfits a couple of years ago It was a black leather short / slightly longer black structured „short“, a peachy top and a grey COS chiffon kimono. I topped it off with tights, wonderful shiny black leather shoes with studs in the front (they broke – I am still devastated) and enormous rosegold cuffs on one or both arms. You can find this outfit on my blog – multiple times (scroll way baaaaack). And I think I have all these pieces still in my wardrobe. But now it’s time for a new comfort-look: the XXL statement sweater in white with rose-coloured accessories.

Sich morgens anziehen ist #Selfcare – das ist eine neue Erkenntnis von mir, nachdem ich den ersten Monat von meiner Outfitchallenge fast abgeschlossen habe. Es ist völlig normal, das gleiche Outfit zwei Tage in Folge zu rocken, gerade wenn es einem gut gefällt und noch sauber & frisch ist (keine Tomatensoße in Sicht gewesen, was?). Als Blogger spürt man manchmal den Druck (gerade im Rahmen einer solchen Challenge), jeden Tag etwas Neues und noch nie dagewesenes aus dem Schrank zu ziehen. Aber sind wir mal ehrlich: Das ist doch nicht normal. Genau das kurbelt die Fast Fashionmentalität an, gibt Lesern ein schlechtes Gefühl und macht Leuten wie mir unnötigen Stress. Also Schluss damit! Die neue „Komfortzone“ ist das Standardoutfit, welches immer dann zum Zuge kommt, wenn man sich so richtig geborgen fühlen möchte. Date, Wohnungsbesichtigung oder Bewerbungsgespräch: So ein Outfit spendet Ruhe & Gelassenheit. Vor Jahren hatte ich bereits ein solches Outfit. Ihr kennt es vielleicht von ungefähr jedem Businessmeeting, dem Vortrag über Cybermobbing in Wien, einer Ausstellungseröffnung in Stuttgart – es ist ungefähr fünf Mal auf diesem Blog zu sehen. Es bestand damals aus einer Ledershorts oder einer raffinierten schwarzen, längeren Hose mit „Kummerbund“, einem peachy Top mit aufgesetzten Taschen, einem grauen Kimono von COS, rosegoldenen Armspangen (entweder eine lange oder zwei kurze) und wundervollen Lackschuhen von einer Ballettmarke, die leider kaputt gegangen sind. Alles andere habe ich noch im Schrank. 

Aber jetzt zu meinem neuen Comfort-Outfit: der Vintage Cashmerepullove im XXL-Format mit rosa Accessoires (Glitzersocken, Apres-Ski Ohrringe, Matt&Nat Rucksack) – ein Träumchen und ich fühle mich immer gut angezogen…

Here we go – another week passed by and I accumulated a ton of pictures. I like that I have the freedom to change it up. Some of them are taken with a DSLR and a self-timer, others are quickly done with my trusted „HUJI app“, and most of them are taken by Phil and my iPhone this week. As an overall observation, I have to say it starts to creep in that it’s not that „fun and new“ anymore. I am just completely honest with you at this point – and I am sitting on my desk right now with my pyjama pants (back) on, a comfy sweater and woolly socks.
And most importantly: I haven’t taken a picture yet! Also, I am almost sure that there is no point in changing today – so let’s see what I make out of this. I also don’t have makeup on, but I showered and washed my hair – so at least that’s all safe!

One idea came to my mind a couple of days ago and I am still thinking about it: I want to start planning my outfits more in advance. I think that’s fun and super productive – but I would love to have a little rail or some gadget to put my clothes on so I can see them. I adore this clothing stand by HAY, but I think it takes up way too much space. Our London flat is tiny, and I need something super small not to overwhelm the space. Any ideas?

Ich bin zurück mit einer weiteren Woche „Outfits by Jasmin“. Die Zeit verging so schnell und es hat sich einiges angesammelt. Ich mag es wirklich, dass ich im Rahmen der Challenge die Freiheit habe, die Bilder mit ganz unterschiedlichen Qualitätsstandards zu machen (ist das verständliches Deutsch?). Einige entstanden mit einer DSLR und einem Selbstauslöser, andere wurden schnell mit meiner liebsten „HUJI-App“ gemacht, und die meisten von den Bildern diese Woche wurden von Phil mit meinem iPhone aufgenommen. Als allgemeine Beobachtung muss ich allerdings zugeben, dass es nicht mehr so „spaßig und neu“ ist. Ich bin jetzt absolut ehrlich – ich sitze hier gerade mit meiner Pyjamahose (hab sie irgendwann wieder angezogen), einem bequemen Pullover und Wollsocken auf meinem Schreibtischstuhl (immerhin nicht auf dem Sofa – puh!). Ich habe auch noch kein Foto gemacht!

Allerdings bin ich bin mir auch fast sicher, dass es keinen Sinn hat, mich heute noch umzuziehen – schauen wir uns also nächste Woche mal genauer an, was ich daraus mache. Ich habe auch kein Make-up aufgetragen, aber immerhin habe ich geduscht und mir die Haare gewaschen – wie so ein normaler Mensch (und kein „Freelancer-Monster“)!

Eine Idee kam mir vor ein paar Tagen in den Sinn und ich denke immer noch darüber nach: Ich möchte meine Outfits unbedingt früher im Voraus planen. Ich finde das hat gleich zwei Vorteile: Es macht Spaß und ist super produktiv – aber ich hätte gerne einen kleinen Kleiderständer oder eine Art Gadget, um meine Kleidung aufzuhängen (außerhalb von Schrankhausen), damit ich sie sehen kann. Ich liebe diese Kleiderstange von HAY sehr, aber ich persönlich glaube, dass es zu viel Platz beansprucht. Unsere Wohnung in London ist winzig und ich brauche etwas sehr Kleines, um den Raum nicht komplett vollzustopfen. Irgendwelche Ideen?

The second week already was full of challenges – I fell sick in the middle of the week and was bed-bound until Sunday. I feel slightly better now, but it might affect me the next couple of days as well. The exciting thing about this experience was definitely, how you can pull yourself out of the clump and how getting dressed in the morning affects your mood. What do you guys pull out of your closet when you don’t feel your best? I am curious!

Heute gibt es den nächsten #OutfitsoftheWeek Post! Leider gab es die letzte Woche gleich den ersten Dämpfer und ich bin krank geworden. Mir war natürlich klar, dass das irgendwann passieren wird und ich war generell gespannt, wie ich dann damit umgehe. Immerhin ist man am Anfang so voller Motivation und dann wirkt die Rumliegerei im Bett wie die letzte Strafe. Ich muss auch zugeben, dass ich anfangs sehr frustriert war – jedoch habe ich es ganz gut geschafft, mich aus dem Loch herauszuziehen und bequeme Outfits zu finden, in denen ich mich wohl und trotzdem „gut“ angezogen fühle.
